About the Youth Education Committee

The committee’s mission is to assist NEWWA in the development and implementation of youth education programs aimed at students from pre-school through post secondary education.  Efforts will focus on classroom teacher and development of strong relationships with their local water utility.

Youth Education Committee activities include:

  • Developing educational resources that can be used by the NEWWA member, utilities, and teachers to facilitate discussions around water resources and conservation.
  • Partnering with the New England Water Environment Association’s (NEWEA) Youth Education Committee to share and develop resources.
  • Developing and conducting a needs assessment regarding the interest and needs of utilities as it relates to youth education & awareness.
  • Analyzing and developing goals based on recently conducted needs assessment regarding the interest and needs of utilities as it relates to youth education & awareness.
  • Reviewing needs and developing educational resources for each age group (elementary, middle and high schools), which are compatible with each state’s core curriculum.
  • Presenting information and resources for utilities to use in their educational outreach efforts.
