People who live without a dependable source of safe
drinking water face some tough odds. Every day, more than
6,000 people die from water-related illnesses—nearly 2 million
each year—and most of them are young children. Most of these
people live in poor and developing countries that lack
adequate sanitation facilities.
This health crisis can be solved – but it takes
champions. Water For People (WFP), a
non-profit organization, is a champion for people in
developing countries – helping them help themselves by
implementing simple, affordable water and sanitation solutions
to meet the needs of their community. (Visit http://www.waterforpeople.org/ to learn
more.)
The New England Water Works Association (NEWWA) and New
England Water Environment Association (NEWEA) have teamed up
to raise money and awareness for Water For People. NEWWA and
NEWEA cordially invite you to step up to the plate and support
Water For People at its 3rd New England WFP Gala Celebration
on Saturday, May 10 at America’s most beloved ballpark, Fenway
Park in Boston.
Held in Fenway Park’s world-class EMC Club, this event
features:
- High-scoring dining
- Pre-Gala tours of Fenway Park
- Live jazz entertainment
- Live auction of Red Sox memorabilia
- Special MC – WCVB's Karen Holmes Ward
Proceeds from this event will go directly to WFP, so your
contribution will have a significant impact on the lives of
impoverished people worldwide. |
