Course Description
Drinking water suppliers depend greatly on the quality and quantity of their sources in order to provide ample, safe drinking water. This class is designed to provide an opportunity to discover the characteristics and types of sources used to supply drinking water, as well as the methods of protecting possible contamination to those sources. Beginning with a reveiw of the hydrological cycle and the rights to access water for treatment, the study of both surface and groundwater sources will be covered. The description of the major groups contaminants typically found in untreated water will be examined. Along with source protection, the importance of conservation will also be explored. Upon completion of the course, drinking water professionals will have an increased understanding and appreciation of source water quality and quantity.
