Providing clean drinking water is one of the U.S. Center for Disease Control’s top ten public health achievements of the 20th century. Not a day goes by that we do not turn on a water faucet to either drink, shower, brush our teeth, do laundry, wash dishes…(and the list goes on and on). We can all do this with the peace of mind that what is coming out of our tap is safe to drink, wash with, and cook with. Compare that to the 884 million people around the globe who do NOT have access to safe drinking water.
Our public water suppliers across New England work tirelessly 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, 365 days a year to ensure that the water coming out of our faucets is safe.
We want YOU to tell us how you think Only Tap Water Delivers public health in New England.
Requirements
Create a video for posting on YouTube that explains how “Only Tap Water Delivers” public health in your home, community, school, business, etc.
The video MUST incorporate the following message:
“In a world where an estimated 3 million people die every year from preventable waterborne disease, our water systems allow us to drink from virtually any public tap with a high assurance of safety. Each community water supply is required to meet rigorous federal and state health-protective standards.”
All entries must be 60 seconds or less. Videos must be uploaded to YouTube and entered into the contest with a link to the video (e-mail video links to kking@newwa.org).
